Skills for Life Sub Group

The Skills for Life Sub Group of the Bradford College Projects & Partnership Team is made up of Skills for Life representatives from across the district and has been meeting regularly since January 2001. It was established to develop closer working links between providers and develop a coherent system of planning for provision and development. It also enables the Projects & Partnership Team to respond directly through a specialist group to issues involving Skills for Life.

Membership of the group reflects the wide range of providers across the district and encompasses Bradford, Shipley and Keighley Colleges, Bradford Council, the Probation Service, the Workers' Educational Service, Jobcentreplus, the Health service, work-based learning providers, private training centres and voluntary and community groups. Representatives from other groups working in Skills for Life are welcome to join and be involved.

The group aims to take a strategic overview of Skills for Life development in the district, develop and implement the District's Action Plan, and ensure that the targets set by the government through the LSC are met. The District's achievement to the 2004 Skills for Life target was 141%. The latest figures obtained from the LSC for Bradford and District achievement towards the 2007 target (November 2007) are very positive and encouraging.
