Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities

The Bradford District has benefited from the NLDC Programme for the past 6 years providing support to the District's VCS organizations enabling them to deliver community based learning at the heart of disadvantaged communities.

NLDC is a Learning and Skills Council "Skills for Jobs" Programme and has 2 targets groups: people over the age of 19 years who face significant barriers accessing work or learning opportunities and the VCS groups that provide these community services.

Contracted through Bradford College, NLDC has been managed by Bradford District Learning Partnership which has provided the advantage of a co-ordinated approach to the Fund's investment with the Partnership now affiliated with the Local Authority's skills agenda and Local Area Agreement implementation.

Delivered directly by the District's VCS organizations, the NLDC Programme continually meets and exceeds the outcomes required by the LSC with over 500 community learners benefiting from activities during 2007/08.

Revised Commissioning Document and Round Dates

Due to a technicality in the commissioning process, the LSC has advised that the Round be re-run. The technicality relates to paragraph 6.1.1 - location of applicant organisation. No other material changes have been made. The new closing date is therefore 12noon on the 18th November 2009.
