(Embedding Equality and Diversity in Learning)

The aim of the project was to develop a sustainable 'culture of learning' in Bradford through increased access to learning opportunities by developing a model of engaging learners who face complex barriers. The project was aimed at disadvantaged young males from all ethnic groups and women from a BME background.

The overall objective of the project is to develop a sustainable culture of learning and to establish and strengthen links within and between the communities of formal and informal learning providers. This is addressed through the following:

  1. A role model and community learning leadership programme: Using role models within the community to inspire motivate and champion the benefits of learning and it's potential
  2. A parental involvement programme: Linking with the parental involvement programme in order to benefit from their experience. It will also directly contribute to developing further activities of parental involvement
  3. A positive action programme, including mentorship and one-to-one coaching
  4. A learning engagement programme providing direct outcomes for the project through activities to increase levels of participation in learning. This will include workshops and working with learners and communities to address the barriers they face to learning

Target Group(s)

  • Young males of all ethnic backgrounds
